Start with the simple things. Check that the thermostat is set to heat and has fresh batteries, check the furnace breaker in your electrical panel, and make sure the power switch on or near the furnace (it looks like a light switch) is on. Replace a clogged filter if you have a spare. If none of that helps, don't try to repair the furnace yourself.
